Lighthouse for iPhone

A weird thing happened recently. Several people got the urge to build iPhone apps for Lighthouse. Whatever it was that was in the air, we caught it too. And since we’re the people who actually make Lighthouse, we were able to do some back-end tweaks to make it turn out just right (in our ever-so-humble opinions, of course).

Presenting Lighthouse for iPhone.

Pretty cool. Glad to see you went the web app instead of the objective c route.

As web interfaces go it is pretty decent. As iPhone apps go it leaves much to be desired. Having to select a link rather than the entire cell being hot is for one a very big issue when big fingers meet small fonts. Because it favors history over current status it is also hard to get a good sense of the tasks left to complete a milestone/project.

Michael: It kind of sounds like you didn’t try the app out. Whole cells are definitely selectable, and the app heavily favors current status (as noted by the current milestone status being splattered all across the application). You can also easily click through to milestones to see the status of each ticket by person, and use all the filters you use on the regular lighthouse to find open tickets.

LOL at ‘no service’ in the AT&T death zone around your apartment :)

Beautifully done and, as bryanl stated, beautifully executed.

    Why wasn’t this created sooner?

Looks awesome! You guys should publish it to the app store w/ phonegap.

Fantastic, saw a LH app on the store and was hoping there’d be an official one. Nice job!

Brian: what would we get out of phonegap? vibration? sounds? I actually do want something for push notifications though, so there’s a possibility we could release a native shim around our web interface.

Awesome. I wish this become a native iphone app someday, usable with none-connected iPods too.

I wouldn’t complain if I saw a Tender app as well :D. Excellent job, as always, on this.

    Cheers

@kyle you’re being a bit reactionary to Micheal’s comments – He makes some valid points.

When going into the `Overview` of a Project I was a confused on how to get to the remaining tickets in the current milestone – it’s not apparent that the current milestone below the `Overview` link is clickable.

Also in a ticket if you hit “Update Ticket” and then “Cancel” the app hangs.

    Overall great work!

@John: Thanks for the feedback. I’m always open to hear specific/valid claims. I just get a bit irritated when people make broad claims without actually using the product. In any case, next deploy the whole milestone bit should be clickable—thanks for the note!

an iphone webapp what a great idea. I thought of this feature that would make my life so much easier I actually do iphone apps and have to send screenshots to the developpers in order to do that I have to take a screenshot on my iphone, send it to me by email or plug my iphone, open iphoto and copy paste. then I can add it to my ticket.

being able to open an lighthouse app and pick the photo right from the cameraroll of my iphone would be just great. (I am unsure if a webapp is allowed to open the camera roll)

I guess that would work also in this case : I see a design issue on something and I take a picture of it with my iphone and attach it to my ticket
