What's new in Lighthouse: OpenID
We’ve listened to all four of you who wanted it: Lighthouse finally joins the ranks of OpenID-enabled sites. For the noobs of you, OpenID is (most simply) a centralized way of identifying yourself. You enter your OpenID url instead of username/password. There are plenty of resources and OpenID providers out there, and you can even run your own, or set up your blog as a delegate . If you already have OpenID, this will be a welcome addition.
Adding OpenID to your account.
Click on the “My Profile” link in the upper right, then, fill in the details in the “Reset OpenID” sidebar box.

Awesome. This rocks my socks.
So happy about OpenID… so disappointed in the implementation.
It is silently failing. I save, the page flashes, I login, the site rejects me. How about a status message guys?
A tip for Fluid users
If you are using Lighthouse with the Fluid site-specific browser you need to add your OpenID provider to the list of URLs that Fluid is allowed to navigate to. Otherwise you’ll be redirected to your OpenID provider but never redirected back after you login.
Is there anywhere else we can see a list of new features?
5 people. Hooray.

Colin: a status message for what? You should get errors if the open id server rejects you. Here’s me rejecting myself from myopenid: http://img.skitch.com/20080416-efgb5cabm8y3777u9cp4fgipr3.jpg. Here’s me putting in an intentionally bad openid url: http://skitch.com/technoweenie/jitu/activereload
Rick: I am talking about messages on the admin side of the house confirming the acceptance of an OpenID on your account. When I hit save, I get a page flash, but no status message and no visible area on the details to tell that it was accepted, rejected, or otherwise.
Just a follow-up. All appears to work fine now!
